By then, his parents had already separated.

Despite such conditions, João Pedro had devoted his childhood to football. His mother, Flavia, was a good support for him, and she accompanies him to Rio de Janeiro so that he could pursue the youth academy of one of Brazil's most known and prominent football clubs, Fluminense.

Initially, João Pedro played as a defensive midfielder, but in due course, he became an attacking midfielder and later shifted positions, becoming a striker.
