Joao Pedro is sitting out Brighton's match against Ipswich because he sustained a small injury. The 22-year-old striker has been impressive so far this season with two goals in three appearances for the team. He has recently featured for Brazil, appearing as a substitute during the second half of the World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay.
While Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler couldn't say much about Joao Pedro's injury and hoped he would recover in time for the game against Ipswich, that injury was enough to keep him out and he is not even on the bench for the game. He started by joining Fluminense of Brazil, which marked the beginning of his career in football, and truly showed great prowess as a goal-scoring talent. João Pedro left for England to join Watford back in 2020. He had done quite well at Watford to attract the eyes of Brighton who signed him in 2023 for a record fee.

João Pedro was born on September 26, 2001, in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. His parents are Flavia Junqueira and José João de Jesus, better known as Chicão. Chicão played for the club Botafogo. Meanwhile, João Pedro's father was imprisoned when the latter was still a child; he spent eight years of his life there due to some crime that he committed. By then, his parents had already separated.
Despite such conditions, João Pedro had devoted his childhood to football. His mother, Flavia, was a good support for him, and she accompanies him to Rio de Janeiro so that he could pursue the youth academy of one of Brazil's most known and prominent football clubs, Fluminense.
Initially, João Pedro played as a defensive midfielder, but in due course, he became an attacking midfielder and later shifted positions, becoming a striker. It was here that he was finally recognized for his abilities and hard work. He scaled up in his ranks and caught the eyes of top clubs, eventually forcing a move to Europe.
