Unlike iOS 18, macOS Sequoia won't have Apple Intelligence features right away; those will come with a later update, macOS Sequoia 15.1, in October.

But macOS Sequoia does bring some cool new features, like Window Tiling, iPhone Mirroring, and a new Passwords app, among other improvements.

macOS Sequoia New Features

macOS Sequoia has two new features,

  1. iPhone Mirroring: There's a new icon in the Dock that lets you see your iPhone screen on your Mac. You can also get notifications from your iPhone right on your Mac.

  2. Window Tiling: This lets you organize your windows better. You can drag a window to the edge of the screen to snap it into place, making it easier to arrange and view multiple windows.

Steps to Get macOS Sequoia

To update to macOS Sequoia, first, ensure that your Mac is compatible. This includes certain iMac models from 2019, iMac Pro 2017, Mac Studio 2022, Mac mini 2018, Mac Pro 2019, MacBook Air 2020, MacBook Pro 2018, and all Macs with M-series chips.

Before proceeding with the update, it’s crucial to back up your important data to avoid losing anything important in case of unexpected issues. Once you’re ready, go to System Settings, select General, and then click on Software Update. Your Mac will then check for and install the update if it’s available.

macOS Sequoia

macOS Sequoia is the next big update for Apple's macOS operating system, following macOS Sonoma. It was announced on June 10, 2024, at Apple's WWDC event. The update is named after Sequoia National Park in California.

The first beta version for developers came out on the same day as the announcement. A public beta version was released on July 15, 2024, with a second one on July 23, 2024. The official release of macOS Sequoia will be on September 16, 2024.
