In June 2023, Casey White pleaded guilty to escape charges for the 11 days he was on the run with Vicky White in 2022. He was sentenced to life in prison. He made this plea deal in exchange for dropping a felony murder charge related to Vicky White.

Vicky White, who was not related to Casey White, shot herself in the head as police were closing in on them after an 11-day chase. Casey White was also hurt by Vicky's shot and now faces murder charges because Vicky died while they were committing a crime together.

Last year, prosecutors dropped the capital murder charges against Casey for the 2015 murder of Connie Ridgeway, which he had confessed to in 2020. He was in jail waiting for his trial for those charges when he escaped. Since he is already serving a life sentence, they decided not to pursue the capital case.

Who is Casey White?

Casey White is considered very dangerous. In August 2020, he was moved to the Lauderdale County Detention Center while serving a 75-year sentence for serious crimes. He also confessed to another murder and was waiting for his trial there. Some staff and inmates described him as friendly and charming, especially when he wanted something.

Sergeant Renee Lewis, a training officer, shared that working with male inmates requires a strong mind. She recalled a time when Casey asked her for a hug, saying it had been years since he touched a woman. Another former officer, Joyce Brawly, said it's important not to become friends with the inmates but also not to make them your enemy.

During her 17 years at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, Vicky White was considered very important. Sergeant Dylan Elrod, who worked there, said, “If you had a question about anything, you called Vicky.” She even helped catch other officers who were trying to bring in illegal items for inmates. Administrative assistant Chantelle Brown said, “She was really good at it,” and added that Vicky seemed to enjoy uncovering the truth.

Vicky was married once but got divorced. In 2021, she told some coworkers that she was dating two men at the same time. One was younger; she was 55, and he was 38. However, they didn’t know who he was. Other people at the detention center started to notice something strange when they saw an inmate named Casey giving Vicky letters to mail without any addresses on them.
