When he accepts, he finds himself in a mysterious location with 455 other players, all of whom are also in serious financial trouble.

Squid Game Season 1 Ending Explained

At the end of Squid Game Season 1, Gi-hun decides to take care of Sae-byeok and Sang-woo's wishes. He finds Sae-byeok's brother and leaves him in Sang-woo's mother's care, giving her half of his winnings. While this is happening, Gi-hun's daughter, along with his ex-wife and her new husband, moves to the United States. Their relationship is strained because of his debts, but Gi-hun hopes that with his newfound wealth, he can improve things.

As Gi-hun is heading to the airport to see his daughter, he hears a familiar sound — a ddakji hitting the ground. He sees the salesman who had invited him to play the games, now trying to recruit someone else. Knowing what will happen to the new player, Gi-hun rushes to stop it. The salesman simply waves goodbye from a train, leaving behind a card for the new recruit, which Gi-hun snatches away and tells him to never call again.

At the airport, Gi-hun holds the game card in his hands. Just before he boards the plane, he receives a call from the games, but he angrily confronts the agent about the cruel nature of the games. The Front Man overhears and advises him to catch his flight. However, Gi-hun has had enough and decides not to get on the plane. He turns back, realizing that for him, the game is not over.
