Laura Hamilton grew up in Dartford, Kent. After finishing her A-Levels at Dartford Grammar School for Girls, she chose to work at Channel 4 instead of going to university to study law and psychology. She started as a runner for Dermot O'Leary on a one-year contract.

After that, she worked as an Assistant Floor Manager on popular shows like Top of the Pops and Big Brother. Laura also took on roles as a 2nd and 3rd Assistant Director on TV series such as Family Affairs and The Bill, as well as films like Harry Potter and Stardust. She spent four years working behind the scenes before making her on-screen debut. Laura has also worked with various production companies and networks, including ITV, Channel 5, and Nickelodeon.
