Is Voltron Leaving Netflix?
Yes, Voltron: Legendary Defender is leaving Netflix, an animated show created by DreamWorks and World Events Productions, with animation by South Korea's Mir studio for Netflix. It's a reboot of the old Voltron series and the Japanese anime "Beast King GoLion."
The show blends traditional animation and CGI, with a story set in a sci-fi world. In this universe, special energy called quintessence powers both technology and magic. The show follows the Paladins, a group of heroes who come together to form the giant robot Voltron, fighting against the evil Emperor Zarkon and the Galra Empire.
The series first aired in 2016 and ended in 2018 after eight seasons and 78 episodes. It has been praised for its writing and animation which led to many toys and comics. Unfortunately, the show is leaving Netflix in 2024.
Why is Voltron Leaving Netflix?
Voltron: Legendary Defender is leaving Netflix due to licensing agreements. Streaming platforms like Netflix often have contracts with content creators that last for a certain number of years. When these contracts expire, the platform must decide whether to renew them or let the show go.
As of now, Netflix has chosen not to keep Voltron after its license ends. This is not unusual, as many shows and movies leave streaming services over time. Fans of Voltron may need to find other ways to watch the series after it is removed from Netflix.
Voltron: Legendary Defender
Voltron: Legendary Defender is an animated show made by DreamWorks and World Events Productions, with animation by South Korean studio Mir for Netflix. It’s a reboot of the old Voltron series and the Japanese anime "Beast King GoLion." The show combines anime-style art with computer graphics, especially for the action scenes involving the giant robot, Voltron.
Set in a futuristic world, the story follows a group of heroes, called the Paladins, who team up to control Voltron. They must work together to stop the evil Emperor Zarkon and his powerful Galra Empire.
The series was released between June 2016 and December 2018, running for 8 seasons with a total of 78 episodes. It was praised for its story and animation and became popular enough to inspire comics, action figures, and other toys. Sadly, "Voltron: Legendary Defender" will be removed from Netflix in 2024.
Voltron: Legendary Defender Plot
For thousands of years, the Galra Empire has taken over planets and enslaved many races. The only thing that can stop them is Voltron, a giant robot made up of five lion-shaped starships. The pilots of these lions are called Paladins. Long ago, King Alfor hid the lions across the universe to keep them away from the evil Emperor Zarkon of the Galra Empire.
In the present, the Galra Empire’s search for Voltron brings them to Earth. Five pilots—Shiro, Keith, Lance, Pidge, and Hunk—find one of the lions, meet Princess Allura, and become the new Paladins to fight back.
