Josh Wolf Career

In his mid-twenties, Josh Wolf moved to Seattle, Washington, seeking a fresh start for his comedy career. There, he gained more stage time and experience, but when he was 28, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue bigger opportunities. However, he quickly found it just as tough to succeed in LA’s crowded comedy scene as it was in Seattle.

In 1999, Josh Wolf got his big break with a one-man show at HBO Workspace, leading to a talent deal at 20th Century Fox and his own TV series with ABC. He also signed a deal with NBC and began writing for TV, discovering his passion for it. Eventually, he chose to focus entirely on writing and stepped away from stand-up comedy and on-screen appearances.

In 2006, Josh Wolf returned to TV on NBC's Last Comic Standing and had a recurring role on My Name Is Earl from 2006 to 2009, as well as on Raising Hope from 2010 to 2011. He also became a regular guest on Chelsea Handler's show Chelsea Lately and toured with comedian Larry the Cable Guy in 2009.

By 2011, Wolf focused on Chelsea Lately, where he appeared weekly and wrote for the show, while also becoming a New York Times bestselling author for his work in Chelsea Handler's book Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me.
