Fiona MacDonald Death
Fiona MacDonald passed away at the age of 67 from motor neurone disease (MND). She was diagnosed with MND in November 2021, a serious illness that gradually takes away a person's ability to move, speak, swallow, and breathe. Unfortunately, there is no cure, and most people with MND only live for about 27 months after being diagnosed.
In her farewell message shared by her sister Kylie on Instagram, Fiona described her last few months as very difficult. She mentioned problems with tube feeding and food intolerances, saying, "I have been slowly starving, growing weaker and weaker." She also talked about experiencing terrible back pain. Fiona chose to enter palliative care after much thought, stating, "While I’ve never wanted to die, the thought of leaving my tortured body was a relief."
Her last moments were peaceful, surrounded by her family. She expressed her love and gratitude to everyone in her message, hoping they would remember her laughter and joy.
