It's believed that Brenda Bowman still lives alone in Michigan and remains loyal to her marriage with Dennis, even though she knows about his many terrible crimes. At the end of the documentary, it is revealed that Brenda gave half of Aundria's ashes to Cathy. Cathy was upset because she didn’t want the ashes to be split up.

In Netflix's two-part true crime documentary, Into The Fire: The Lost Daughter, viewers are shocked as they follow Cathy Terkanian's journey to find her missing daughter, Alexis Miranda Badger. Cathy gave birth to Alexis when she was 16 and had her adopted out nine months later. The name was changed to Aundria when she was adopted by Dennis and Brenda Bowman, a seemingly ideal church-going couple.

When Aundria disappeared at age 14, it was initially thought she had run away. The police didn’t notice the signs that something was wrong at home. Ten years later, Cathy received a letter asking for a DNA sample because a young woman's body had been found, and investigators thought it might be Aundria.

The DNA didn’t match, but this led Cathy to realize her daughter was missing. She started a social media page to find information and continued with her own investigation. This, along with further police work, revealed Dennis Bowman's many violent crimes, including the murder of his own daughter. It took nearly 30 years for justice to be served.

Who is Brenda Bowman?

Brenda Bowman is the wife of Dennis Bowman, who has been convicted of murder and rape. The couple met in high school, and according to family members in Into The Fire, Dennis is Brenda's only relationship.

In the documentary, Brenda is shown as being completely loyal to Dennis, despite his horrible crimes. She is quoted as saying, "I haven't forgotten what he did but I have forgiven... I take my marriage vows seriously."

Brenda was never charged with or involved in Dennis's crimes. The police used the idea of moving Dennis to a prison closer to Brenda as a tactic to get him to confess to other crimes. This led Dennis to admit that he had killed Aundria. Until then, Brenda had believed that her daughter had simply run away.
