76th Primetime Emmy Awards
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated the best TV shows and performances from June 2023 to May 2024. The ceremony took place on September 15, 2024, and aired on ABC.
It was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy as the hosts. This Emmy event was the second in 2024, as the 75th ceremony was delayed to January due to Hollywood labor strikes. Produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, the ceremony also included the Creative Arts Emmys on September 7 and 8, which honored technical and artistic achievements in television.
Emmy Awards
The Emmy Awards celebrate excellence in television. There are different Emmy ceremonies throughout the year, each with its focus. The Primetime Emmy Awards and the Daytime Emmy Awards are the most well-known, recognizing top work in American primetime and daytime TV shows. Other important Emmy events include the Children's & Family Emmy Awards for kids' programming, the Sports Emmy Awards for sports shows, and the News & Documentary Emmy Awards for news and documentaries.
The Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards honor achievements in tech and engineering. Regional Emmys celebrate local TV excellence, and the International Emmy Awards recognize outstanding TV shows from outside the U.S. The Emmy statuette, showing a winged woman holding an atom, is named after the "Emmy" tube used in early TV cameras. The awards are managed by three organizations: ATAS, NATAS, and IATAS.
