Elliott Kropf, a 16-year-old senior at New Canaan High School, died on Saturday night. He was a member of the school's hockey team. Kropf was hit by a Metro-North train at the Talmadge Hill station in New Canaan around 11:10 p.m. on September 14, 2024. The police said there was no sign of any crime in the incident. The cause of his death is still being looked into by medical officials.
Because of his death, the high school postponed all sports events on Monday and started school two hours late to give students and staff time to get support from counselors. New Canaan's Superintendent, Bryan Luizzi, and Athletic Director, Jay Egan, shared their sadness and asked everyone to support each other during this tough time.
